The kinematic chain system allows the decking to be "elastically" sewn together and to facilitate the transfer of loads both longitudinally and transversely. Thanks to this system the longitudinal deformations of the deck caused mainly by the permanent plastic sliding or by the thermal variations are concentrated in a single point or rather on a support device which is usually positioned either in the middle of the work of art or in correspondence with a shoulder.
The kinematic chain consists of the connection bars that react in the traction phase, that is, in the phase of distancing between bridge spans and by the "buffer" joint that intervenes when the slabs get closer to each other, the moment in which the internal elastomer bearing will react working in compression.
The connection and waterproofing joint for Kinematic Chains is made up of a central rubber element interposed between steel angles and is used to absorb compression forces usually up to 40 KN / m; the joint, drowned in the bridge slab casting, is inclusive of fixing brackets welded to the corners.
